Chart 1
Shows the Average House Price in the UK by Region since 1983. Mouse over the columns to see additional data, or click through to drill down further.
- This shows clearly that only 5 regions perform above the UK average of £65,277 and are thus skewing the national figures.
- It also demonstrates that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have much lower house prices than England. Something we in the UK know very well.
- However chart 2 sheds some light on an interesting fact for Property investors
Chart 2
Shows the regional prices expressed as a percentage increase over those of the UK baseline set at 100% in Q1 1993
- This shows that since the house price index was base-lined in 1993 that all areas have show periods of growth.
- Perhaps this explains why house prices are so interesting to us Brits?
- Northern Ireland was the star performer for home-owners and long term investors showing greater growth as a % than anywhere else.
