The greatest change in computing in the last 3 years

Cloud Computing is a method of accessing your business applications and your data securely using only a web browser. Rather than installing business applications on a server in the office/school users simply fire up a web browser such as Internet Explorer, FireFox or Chrome and log into the application to access their data and work efficiently.

Key advantages are that applications and data are available anywhere on just about any machine. This isn't the only difference as the way of paying for them differs also. Cloud computing is also referred to as 'Software as a Service' or SaaS and like many services payment is usually by a subscription. Many subscriptions are flexible so that the number of users can be increased or decreased at will in stark contrast to expensive annual/perpetual licences for most traditional installed software.

As the application is held on the web all updates and improvements happen both regularly and effortlessly with out having to update the PC's themselves.

This is a separation of Information from Technology - taking the T out of IT.

Is it for me?
